@CodeCaster: I'd argue that someone who bothers fixing up their answers is much less of a burden on the community than users spitting out random answers or help vampires with thousands of low-quality questions; these are the ones getting rep from the sheer number of posts they've made.

@bob: it is impossible to do exactly as you asked (i.e. friends === list immediately upon assignment). One common workaround is to structure your application to use callbacks so that this is not necessary, but this requires all of your asynchronous code to use callbacks. You might want to read the duplicate question linked more closely which explains this in more detail.

In pretty much all cases I have seen the last one or two downvotes are not reversed, so I suspect there's something more to this (looking at other people's accounts here, not my own).
