One of the best answers I've had on SO didn't answer the question at all, it bypassed the question and and suggested a different approach. Great for me in that specific instance but probably less that ideal for others searching on the question. That's a longwinded way of saying that 'answering the question' may be too restrictive - 'solving the problem' may be more useful
