Should we discourage leading +/-1 on comments?
This is not the place to do so; there are more appropriate places like youtube comments!

So what?! Since when popularity is a measure of reason? … Perhaps prohibiting "-1" in comments is not enough on its own, perhaps some stubborn passive aggressive users will try to circumvent any measures taken. …

Am I still supposed to explain my downvotes or not?
Choosing between:
comment: -1 because you didnt provide A.
and
comment: Providing A is needed for clarity.
Both can accomplish the same goal; that is improve the post and hint the poster …
