When you are researching an obscure issue, I have often found a comment that eventually led me to the answer. Too aggressive deletion of comments will decrease the value of the site in the end. In fact in general I find there is simply too much deletion of everything in SO - and now that I can see deleted answers I have often found value there as well. | |

Such things can't be expressed through voting, and often require you to fully rewrite a question/answer if you want to fix it, which is not appropriate. I have used not relevant as if it was still no longer needed when flagging comments today, I don't think the wording change will change the meaning as anything not relevant is in fact not needed, also I would associate the This comment is outdated as the same meaning as no longer needed regardless

I think this question would benefit from having the text from the comment flag dialogue that explains the usage of the not relevant flag included. This comment is outdated, off-topic, or not relevant to this post.
