What is the purpose of the down votingdownvoting questions?

I am a new programmer and was recommended to the site by several teachers and my internship boss. TheyThey all said how great of a learning tool this was. ButBut users keep down votingdownvoting my questions saying they are too easy and other things along that line. Getting down voted

Getting downvoted and those comments are very discouraging for a young coder like me, so what is the point of them? DoDo you not want the community to grow?
